A Nation of Champions
Be the best we can be
We have a rich sporting history. We will build emphatically on
the foundations of our success to be the best we can be at the
highest levels.
The last Olympic and Paralympic Games were Wales' most
successful Olympics in 100 years, with five medals won and almost a
quarter of the gold medals won by Great Britain's Paralympians
secured by Welsh athletes.
We now have a significant
number of sportsmen and women who are truly world class and known
across the world for their sporting achievements: Baroness Tanni
Grey Thompson, David Roberts and Nicole Cooke to name but a
few.
Investing in the future
Following hard on their heels is an emerging generation of
talent which is making its mark at junior and youth levels, and
which we will, through dedicated support and services, provide with
every chance to be the next world beaters.
We want to invest in our future talent, and maximise the
feel-good factor the Commonwealth Games, Olympic and Paralympic
Games will bring to Wales. It's about investing in a lasting
legacy.
