Gareth Warburton

Warburton already had one Commonwealth Games under his belt after travelling to Melbourne. But in Delhi 2010, he doubled his distance and stepped up from 400m to 800m.

The Caernarfon runner - who started out as a promising rugby player - just missed out on the medals when he placed 4th.

He juggles training with a part-time job in UWIC's library. He has now been competing for more than 10 years.

Gareth classes winning a relay silver in the European Indoor Championships 2005 as one of his career highlights so far. But that is surely surpassed by his Olympic debut at London 2012.

He finished fifth in the third heat of the 800m with a time of 1:46:97.
