Prestatyn-born James Roberts knows exactly what it's like to
compete at a Paralympic Games. He was one of the first ever
Paralympic rowers, as adaptive rowing mad its Games debut in
Beijing.
Since 2008, classification has changed; forcing James to
reconsider his Paralympic future. With the help of Disability Sport
Wales, he decided to make the switch to sitting volleyball.
Anthony Hughes of Disability Sport Wales explains: "James has
been able to transfer special awareness, speed and his competitive
edge into this young fearless go-getting volleyball squad. This
will be James' second Paralympics Games and I'm delighted that he
has pushed his way into the team and I am sure will make a great
contribution to the men's game in London."
Sitting volleyball is precisely what it says it is - a
Paralympic sport where the players are sitting down in order to hit
the ball over the net.
