Biography

50 year-old Robert Weale is one of the most experienced members of the men's bowls squad after winning two golds, three silvers and a bronze from previous Commonwealth Games, and after carrying the Welsh team flag at the opening and closing of the  Kuala Lumpur Games in 1998 and the closing of the Delhi 2010 Games. He has been competing for Wales since 1982.

The Herefordshire Housing Limited employee holds a record 103 caps and as well as his Commonwealth medals, has won gold in the pairs and bronze in the fours at 2009 Atlantic Championships, as well as a gold, a silver and two bronze World Championship medals.

In 2013 Rob won a bronze medal at the Champion of Champions and also at the World Indoor Singles.

Rob was introduced to the sport through his dad and his dad's friend and splits his training time between the outdoor green at Presteigne and indoor in Islwyn.
