Brian Davies is the Sport Wales Institute Elite Performance
Manager and works strategically with Performance Directors of
sports, elite level coaches and the Institute practitioners to
ensure that medals can be delivered by Welsh athletes at major
games'.
Brian began his career in sport as an athlete having played
rugby for the Saracens for seven years. He joined Sport Wales in
1996 as a governing body liaison officer before spending five years
as the Development Manager for the Golf Union of Wales during the
successful 2010 Ryder Cup bid.
The former rugby player returned to Sport Wales in 2009, this
time to the elite performance side, where he now works with the
majority of the sports identified in the Elite Sport Strategy in
helping them to develop their elite performance strategies.
Brian says;
"I work with Performance Directors in terms of strategic
performance planning; with elite level coaches in supporting them
with their professional development and with our own Institute
practitioners in terms of planning and prioritising."
Brian has been an integral part of Team Wales for the past six
years having travelled to the Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010
Commonwealth Games as part of the management and delivery team.
