Biography

After suffering a serious injury playing rugby, Dave Rowe, developed an interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation in the hope that a hole left by a premature end to his sporting career could be filled by working to help other sportsmen and women.

Dave qualified with a RSA diploma in Sports Massage Therapy in 1994 and is now employed as Sport Wales Institute's Senior Soft Tissue Therapist; delivering and co-ordinating sports massage provision at the Institute and throughout Wales.

When talking of his role, Dave says:

"I've been very fortunate to have worked with some of the great and good of Welsh sport since I started out in 1994. From athletics, where I've worked at the Welsh Athletic Championships, and both Cardiff's full and half marathons, to the Wales senior rugby squad."

Having also worked with Premier League and Championship football teams, Fulham FC, Cardiff City FC and West Ham FC, Dave has been the Sports Masseur to the Wales senior football squad, covering well over 100 games and working with a variety of health professionals in the process.

In a nutshell, the purpose of Dave's role is to increase performance potential through the use of massage and soft tissue techniques in not only recovery but also athlete preparation and conditioning and injury prevention.

He regularly works with Wales' rising and current sporting stars including Helen Jenkins, Francesca JonesNatalie Powell, Rhys Williams and Aled Sion Davies  to name just a few and covering a multitude of sports, including athletics, swimming, judo, gymnastics, boxing, disability sports and cycling."
